Setup Shopify Custom App

To integrate WineRelique with a Shopify store, you need to give access to WineRelique to allow read only access to your products and inventory.  

Activate custom app development from the Shopify admin

Before you can create a custom app for your store, you need to activate custom app development.

You need to be the store owner or a staff member with the Enable app development permission to activate custom app development.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  1. Click Develop apps. If this option doesn't appear, it's likely you're not the store owner, or do not have permissions to see this option. You'll need to ask your store owner to complete these steps. Once you've been given permission, you can continue with the remaining steps below.

  1. Click Allow custom app development.
  2. Read the warning and information provided, and then click Allow custom app development.

This will let you add any custom applications to your shopify store.

Add a WineRelique Custom App to your store

If you just completed the steps, above, you'll be in the right place already, if not go to settings, and to "Apps and sales channels" section and click on the "Develop Apps" button at the top as per the above steps.

Once you're on the Develop Apps tab, you should get a "Create an app" button at the top right.

When it asks for a name you can name it whatever you want, but we suggest you call it "WineRelique Integration" so you can locate it later.  Choose an email from the dropdown list, and click "Create App".

On the "Overview" tab, click the "Configure Admin API Scopes" button.

You will need to scroll through the list to locate the following and check them off :

  • read_inventory
  • read_locations
  • read_product_listings
  • read_products

Once those have been checked off, click the "Save" button.

You can confirm that you've selected these items on the Overview tab after clicking Save.   Then click "Install App".  

It will show a dialog to confirm that you want to allow access to your data, click the "Install" button.   Once confirmed, you will be able to copy the Admin API key.  Click "reveal token once" link to show the API key.

NOTE : it will only show this key to you once, so make sure you make a copy for yourself in a safe place.  You will also need to send us the key securely, we suggest you either put it into a text file that you zip with a password, or use https://onetimesecret.com and send us the one time link.  But make sure you have your own secure copy as well.

We will need the shop name/code and this API key from above to complete the integration.  If you're not sure of the shop name, just send us a link to the store page as it can be found within the store website code.
